“I Thought You Were Kim Jong-un”..What Did BamBam Do in Thailand That Left Everyone Speechless?

Premiering on July 9, MBN and MBC Every1’s Do You Know Home-Cooked Meals? is a travel variety show featuring Lee Jang-woo, a renowned foodie and “sexy chef” star, as he travels the world to share the taste and warmth of Korean home-cooked meals in a “food and joy” (sikyeorak) journey. GOT7’s BamBam joins as the first guest star in Thailand, teaming up with Lee Jang-woo as a “global home-cooked meal ambassador.”

On this episode, the dynamic duo heads to Nonthaburi, a one-hour drive from Bangkok. They visit a 40-year-old noodle shop to savor local flavors. Following the shop owner’s recommendation, they head to a restaurant selling pla tu (Thai-style mackerel), a Nonthaburi specialty. Riding a songthaew (a modified pickup truck used as local transport), they arrive at a riverside stilt house and warmly greet the pla tu master chef.
The pla tu restaurant owner treats the guests to a homemade meal, and Lee Jang-woo, in return, proposes cooking a Korean home-cooked dish. Curiosity surrounds the owner’s reaction and the specific “K-home-cooked” dish Lee Jang-woo will prepare. Meanwhile, BamBam surprises everyone by revealing his hidden “cooking DNA,” confidently showcasing his unique recipes. Anticipation builds around how Lee Jang-woo and the locals will evaluate BamBam’s culinary skills.

To repay the restaurant owner, the duo takes a boat to sell pla tu. BamBam playfully negotiates in Thai, saying, “Two fish for one set, but I’ll give you three!” and even pulls out a killer deal: “Four sets for 150 baht!” After a rollercoaster of sales, they enjoy a well-deserved break.
During their downtime, BamBam suggests trying the Thai delicacy fried duck beak and his soul food, som tam (spicy Thai papaya salad), at a nearby restaurant. He declares, “Som tam tastes best when eaten by hand!” and demonstrates a hands-on eating style, teaching Lee Jang-woo a new approach. However, while dining with the pla tu restaurant owner’s family, BamBam suddenly announces, “I can’t translate anymore!” The locals, asking Lee Jang-woo’s name, jokingly say, “I thought you were Kim Jong-un” and “Your build is similar to Kim Jong-un,” catching BamBam off guard with their spicy humor. How the duo navigates this awkward moment becomes a point of intrigue.
BamBam’s all-around brilliance, supporting Lee Jang-woo like a “one-man army,” can be seen on Do You Know Home-Cooked Meals?, airing on July 9 at 10:20 PM on MBN and MBC Every1.
